Therapeutic Processes

RELATIONSHIP GROUP
This is an ongoing group process, which meets once a month for a weekend. Because the people in the Relationship Group are together for a weekend, this offers an environment that is more "real life" than the traditional group session. People have the weekend to "be" together. This helps the participants understand better and more deeply their intra and interpersonal lives. There are two 1-1/2 hour group sessions during the weekend. Massage work is also offered by Donna on these weekends. Jack and Fred conduct this group.

This group was begun in 1985 and has gone through several different formats. This is the current format: On Friday evening the group congregates informally, often making or going out to dinner together. On Saturday morning, the group congregates for its first scheduled meeting of the weekend at 9am. That time begins with some form of exercise/ movement for the group led by one of the group or staff members. This varies from a simple stretching, going for a walk, engaging in movement or dance. After that is followed a meditation or prayer time, again organized and led by a group or staff member. The exercise/meditation time lasts for about an hour.

After a short break, the group reconvenes for a check in time with each other about what has happened for them since the last group meeting. After everyone has had time to share their current state in life, the group adjourns for lunch, massage, walks or private time.

At 3:00, the group re-assembles for their group processing time. This lasts until 4:30. At approximately at 4:45 to five o'clock, the group re-assembles to view a film together. Again the film is chosen by either a group member or one of the staff members to be shared with the group because the movie chosen has had some important impact on the person who picked it.

After the film, the evening meal is prepared and shared by the assembled group. This also gives the group time to discuss and share the impact the film had on them. With the completion of the meal, the formal day comes to an end.

After breakfast on Sunday morning, the group once again re-assembles for their group process time. When the group process is completed and a short break taken, those who wish gather for an informal Eucharistic celebration which begins with a group hearing and sharing of the Scriptural readings for the day. This is followed by the Eucharistic celebration around the table in the dining room. After a shared lunch, the group ends for that month.

Once the member commits to this group process, it requires a monthly commitment. We recommend that a minimum of a year commitment be agreed upon.
